Collected in the antique markets of Lucca, Italy, this vibrant set of six Italian plates captures the charm of mid-century European craftsmanship. Each plate was produced by S.C.I. Laveno (Società Ceramica Italiana Laveno) on the shores of Lake Maggiore and finished by hand in vivid enamel colors.
A black transfer design tells a Chinoiserie story — pagodas, figures, and florals framed by stylized borders of coral red and jade green. Every plate shows subtle variations in brushstroke and color, a testament to the artistry of Italian ceramic painters between 1930 and 1950.
Stamped S.C.I. LAVENO ITALY on the reverse and marked “8014,” these pieces reflect Italy’s fascination with Eastern-inspired motifs and the revival of fine earthenware in the inter-war years.
