According to the mark on the bottom, Royal Doulton produced this bowl between 1928 and 1936. The “Norbury” pattern is blue transfer ware and features a pattern of poppy flowers. The distinctive thing about this bowl is the blue transfer has faded to almost lavender. We believed it to be purple at 1st sight. Transferware can fade over time.
The bowl was probably part of a wash basin set which would have included a pitcher for water. We do not have the pitcher.
As stated earlier, the bowl is clearly marked on the bottom.

There are a couple of chips on the rim which are only in the glazing. Other imperfections seen are from the transfer and glazing process, not damage. As mentioned in the description, the color has faded in different degrees throughout the piece. less
