English Chop Plate by Ridgways (Ridgway) in the “Rhine” pattern of blue on white Transferware. The Maker’s Mark is on the bottom of the plate.
The Ridgway family was one of the important dynasties manufacturing Staffordshire pottery, with a large number of family members and business names, over a period from the 1790’s to the late 20th century.
The Chip Plate is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The are a few scratches and marks which are normal due to its age and use. It dates between 1837-1897.
The Chop Plate measures 12.5” Wide x 1.125” Tall. It weighs 38.80 ounces or 1100 grams.
