For the collector, we have from an estate outside of New Orleans an example of antique ironstone from Mortlocks Ashworth, England. The pattern is sometimes called Chinese Tree and is a Imari colored chinoiserie design.
Mortlocks was a retailer on Oxford St in London, and Ashworth refers to the maker.
The soup plate dates to the mid 19th century and is marked on the back. The handwritten sticker on the back is from an unknown antiques dealer from which the piece was originally purchased.
