The center of the bowl features a stylized portrait of a woman with long, flowing hair and a thoughtful expression, surrounded by lilies and other flowers. The Art Nouveau style is evident in the sinuous, organic lines and the elegant, idealized female figure.
The dish is decorated with champlevé enamel, a technique where hollows are carved into the metal and then filled with colored enamel paste, which is then fired. This is visible in the colorful, intricate patterns on the rim and handles.
The dish has ornate gilt bronze handles, with the stylized form of the handles blending into the overall design.
Such a piece would have been used as a decorative centerpiece on a table, buffet, or mantelpiece.

The bottom is stamped. The stamp provides the origin of this piece as Stulz AG of Strasbourg. An art studio in the 1920s. See less
