A striking pair of mid-20th century hand-carved marble bookends from Onyx Tellez, Tecali Puebla, Mexico, rendered in softly veined pale pink marble with subtle tones of ivory, rose, and terra cotta. Each piece is sculpted into a stylized human form with bold angular features, recalling both Brutalist and Cubist aesthetics.
The geometric carving captures light beautifully, highlighting the natural veining of the stone. Heavy and substantial, they function as both sculpture and bookend, blending art and utility in the tradition of Mexican Modernism.
