Each piece displays exuberant foliage framing idealized architectural scenes, rural surroundings and vistas, all applied by the transferware technique developed in 18th-century England. This set was made in earthenware pottery, typical of 19th-century tableware coming from England’s Staffordshire region. It’s a material that compared to stoneware or porcelain is more porous and coarser, but for today’s relaxed lifestyles, delightfully less formal. See less
