This ornate French mantel clock was crafted circa 1860 in the Delft style, featuring hand-painted blue and white faience with rich Rococo flourishes. The clock case is decorated with scrolling acanthus leaves, floral sprays, and a romantic pastoral scene on the front, all rendered in vivid cobalt tones. The enameled dial is adorned with a central windmill vignette and Arabic numerals, emblematic of Delftware’s Dutch influence.
The clock retains its original pierced gilt-brass hands and twin winding holes for an 8-day movement with bell strike, in working condition. The back includes a removable brass panel for access to the movement. A winding key is included.
Finished on all sides, with additional scenic painting on the reverse and elaborate shell-like ornamentation at the crest, this antique Delft-style clock makes a striking decorative centerpiece for a mantel, console, or tabletop.
Dimensions: 16″ H x 10″ W x 5″ D
