Up for sale is a very large antique clock garniture set. Included is a clock and its accompanying garniture side pieces.
This set was made by Eduard Serin of Paris. The set is made from imported Belgian slate with inlaid marble. The dial is also polished black slate, which is a unusual, but a great addition. Each of the 3 pieces sits on 4 stone feet
These sets in this size were a rarity and were made to be statement pieces for the homes of the elite and upper class. Thus, the design of this set is quite elaborate, featuring etched Art Nouveau patterns, gold numerals, and a bright gold dial rim.
The pieces all retain their bright polished surface and appear to be in overall good condition. There are a couple of small nicks and chips from age, but this is quite common for stone clocks. The clock itself does have 1 crack in the middle marble inlay (see photos), but it’s is still in tact. The garnitures are held together with rods. One of them is a little loose, but it can be tightened if desired.
The clock itself measures 25.25 x 6.5 x 14 inches
Each of the garniture pieces measures 7.25 x 7.25 x 11.5 inches
Chairish sells clocks solely to be intended for display. The mechanical elements are not guaranteed to be in working order by Chairish.
