Circa 1925 or earlier. This design is inspired by a garden chair design circa 1835 by Prusssian artist Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781-1841) for the Roman Baths in Potsdam Park; inspired by classical Roman examples which were discovered in the 18th century at Pompei and Herculaneum.
