Set of 12 Mintons ‘Gold Crocus’ Dinner Plates, England, circa 1920s
An elegant and refined set of twelve 10.5-inch dinner plates by Mintons, one of England’s most prestigious porcelain manufacturers. Produced in the early 20th century, this set is part of the sought-after ‘Gold Crocus’ pattern, distinguished by its stylized botanical motif in hand-painted gilt at the center, surrounded by a deeply molded, spiral-fluted rim and a richly enameled border in complementary gold.
The sculptural relief of the plates provides a tactile quality and visual movement, while the delicate floral motif evokes classical English garden themes with subtle Art Deco influence. The gilded edges show beautifully preserved detail, and the overall condition is excellent with only minimal signs of age, suggesting these were cherished but seldom used.
