Hewn with thick walls, an open rectangular basin, and a single projecting handle, the piece retains the wonderfully irregular surface, tool marks, and softened edges that come only from generations of use.

At 36 inches wide, it has impressive decorative scale and works beautifully as the centerpiece of a large kitchen island or farmhouse table. Fill it with seasonal fruit, branches, or flowers, use it to corral bottles on a bar, or leave it empty where the depth of the old wood and primitive construction can be fully appreciated.
