The first series chairs were distinguished by the rope edge to the inside perimeter of the piece when fiberglass was first used and thinking it would need extra support to withstand weight . But after a few months into production they found that it was not needed so it was discontinued making them very collectable and a rare form . It also retains the original base and checkerboard manufactures label by the Zenith and Herman Miller company . The chair is very translucent with fibers showing through having all the characteristics of early production . The chair will be boxed taken apart in 2 pieces . See less
