Add rustic charm to your home with this striking circa 1930 Japanese lidded storage bucket, accompanied by 10 shallow lacquered plates or bowls. Once possibly used by a street food vendor, this piece carries the soul of everyday Japanese life from nearly a century ago.
The bucket features a sturdy, well-fitting lid and a secure handle for easy carrying. Both the bucket and plates are finished in clear lacquer, highlighting their timeworn character and rich history. Perfect for today’s homes, the shallow plates make ideal underplates—layer them beneath your favorite dinnerware to create a relaxed, rustic tabletop setting. Pair with an eclectic or patterned tablecloth to highlight their unique character.
Plates measure about 11.25 " diameter x about 2" high.

The bucket and plates have twisted wire bands to keep them together, because wood tends to expand and contract depending on the environment. Some plates have cracks, as well as the bucket, which we think adds to their rustic charm. Being hand made, there are slight plate measurement variations by about of an 1/8". Please study photos carefully. less
