Pair of 18th C. tapestry panels featuring intricate and richly detailed designs. They display classical motifs, including large architectural elements resembling columns adorned with floral garlands. The color palette consists of deep, warm tones such as gold, brown, green, and hints of red, giving he pieces an opulent appearance.
Each panel includes a depiction of cherubs, which are often associated with Baroque or Rococo artistic styles. The cherubs are surrounded by elaborate foliage, scrollwork, and acanthus leaves, elements commonly found in European decorative arts from the 17th and 18th centuries.
The edges of the panels are frayed, indicating age and wear. These panels were part of an antique screen with three panels available. These textile pieces would have been used to convey wealth and status, and they showcase the high level of craftsmanship typical of historical European textile production.
