The rest, as they say, “is history”. Haviland Limoges china has been loved and collected ever since. They knew English and American hostess preferred a lighter, more delicate china service than what was the custom in France. But they sent the china to the artist guilds of Paris to be decorated. Heavily influenced by the “French School” of Impressionists they chose subtle colors and floral patterns. A full customized service depicting American flora & fauna was commissioned for the White House and is now on display in the Smithsonian. There were family fights, world wars, and a depression but by 1942, the company was unified once more using both marks, and producing fine beautiful china again until it passed out of family control in 1972. Enjoy these beautiful, delicate plates to decorate your breakfast nook, to serve a plate of macaroons or for your own favorite breakfast in bed guilty pleasure. See less
