This stunning basket’s style is loosely patterned after the traditional flat Polish Tatza basket, a basket that is typically used to hold bread. This basket is oval in shape with two handles. Handcrafted using looped “rods”. Each rod is comprised of eight buff willow weavers (buff willow is willow without the bark) which is woven in a plaited pattern to form the gorgeous basket you see in the photos. The assorted colors are due to the different type of willow weavers used, which gives it that earthy rich chocolaty mocha hue! This beauty measures 14½” wide from handle tip-to-handle tip; 5” high from handle tip to bottom; 10” depth; interior 3” x 9¼” x 11½” H/D/W; weight 8 oz. In excellent condition with age-appropriate wear with only one split weaver on one of the handles (see photo 8) that is indiscernible and does not affect its beauty or utility. Though the label is long gone, this beauty was handcrafted in the Philippines sometime in the 1970s. Visually striking with great textural interest, what more could you ask for?
