It is made of wood and reinforced with metal strips. With the introduction of scales and later digital scales, these traditional measures became obsolete. When the export of Chinese furniture began in the late 1990's, someone has the good idea of cleaning and painting and decorating the grain measures with bold colors. Red is an auspicious color in China and the yellow and green flowers made the container most attractive.
