Gorgeous set of 6 oval Portuguese porcelain plates with birds of paradise motif, as designed by Mottahedeh. Each piece features an image of a different type of bird of paradise hand painted in the center medallion; the rim has a pencil stripe gilt edge. Marks en verso include: the individual species name (Lesser Superb,, Blue, Emperor of Germany's, King, Greater, Lesser), "Made in Portugal", "A Mottahedeh deisgn". The back also includes "Coimbra SP Portugal" the stamp of Sociedade de Porcelanas de Coimbra SP, a firm founded in 1922 and acquired by Vista Allegre in the 1950s.
The collection is in excellent condition - vibrant colors, gilt retention, no cracks, no crazing, no chips.
