This gorgeous pair of decorative tabletop foo dogs were crafted in Japan in the mid 20th-century (1950 to 1960 time frame) by an unknown maker in the Blanc-de-Chine-style which literally in French, is the term for "white from China". Blanc-de-Chine is a term used for all sorts of white, translucent porcelain objects. Traditionally, however, Blanc-de-Chine referred to a specific type of porcelain made for centuries in Dehua (also known as Dehua porcelain) in the Fujian province of China, produced since the Song dynasty (960-1279). The pair measures as follows:

Male (resting on the sphere): 6” x 3” x 6½” W/D/H
Female: 6½” x 3” x 6¼” W/D/H

Together they weigh 1lb. 8 oz. Exceptional quality with beautiful details. In excellent condition with minimal wear, if any.

This duos’ s eye-catching, inventive form should be placed where they will make a statement, atop an entryway table, on a fireplace mantel or étagère or bookcase.
