This listing is for a rare grandfather clock.
This whimsical clock dates to the late 19th century and is of Austrian origin.
The clock has an 8 day time/strike movement with quarter hour (grand sonnerie) chimes.
This style of clock is called a "musical" clock as the movement is attached to a large music box that plays on the hour.
This clock is very unusual and very unique.
It is a creation of master craftsmanship.
The dial has a gorgeous hand painted scene depicting father time. It has a scrolling moon phase dial within the lower.
The corners of the top door surrounding the dial have etched silver plated detailing.
The weights and pendulum are of high quality metalwork with engraved silver plating.
The bottom of the clock opens up to reveal a hidden cabinet.
The clock measures 25" W x 13" D x 97" H. Measurements in inches
This clock was supposedly once used in an Austrian train station, possibly in Vienna.
The reverse of the clock has a hidden trove of historical train and tram tickets from all across Europe and the Middle East.

The wood has been well cared for and the colors on dial are still vibrant. This clock was last serviced in 2018. It ran and chimed when recently tested. The pendulum has been repaired. The music box ran when tested. It can be wound from a keyhole on the side of the top. It has been disconnected from the clock so that it does not go off on the hour, but it could be re-attached to do so. Please note that any mechanical clock that is moved or shipped might require adjustments upon arrival, and thus time accuracy/running cannot be guaranteed. less
