This set of Dessert Plates includes five (5) identically designed exemplars. They are unmarked, which makes their exact maker a mystery , but reveals their place of origin, he United States (since US law since @1914, requires objects produced outside the US but imported into the US to be marked with a country of origin). US made objects are allowed not to have a country of origin mark.
That said, these semi porcelain dessert plates are clearly also produced "in the manner of Georges Briard" and its "Forbidden Fruit" pattern. The animation of the embossed fruit is a clear giveaway. And it is the colorful embossed fruit at the rim of these plates which makes them irresistible for daily use of entertaining.
The diameter of these plates is 7.375". They are in excellent condition. One should note that there is underglaze crazing (see pics) which in this case seems to be an intentional design element and the color decoration seems to be a bit haphazardly applied, as there are a few stray color marks. The plates remain a brilliant enjoyable time capsule of Mid Century Modern design.
