This French 19th century marquetry-inlaid satinwood and gilt-bronze portico clock, circa 1840s, features a floral-and-foliate-inlaid frieze over four line-inlaid satinwood … Read more This French 19th century marquetry-inlaid satinwood and gilt-bronze portico clock, circa 1840s, features a floral-and-foliate-inlaid frieze over four line-inlaid satinwood columns with gilt-bronze capitals having diapered and acanthus-leaf detail and gilt-bronze bases. The silvered and engraved dial with engraved Roman numerals is surrounded by a finely diapered gilt-bronze bezel and cast gilt-bronze floral pendulum surmounted by a pair of swans resting on a floral-inlaid plinth base with turned pad feet. The whole is presented in a dome-on-stand which retains its original wavy glass. See less
