Handmade Studio Ceramic Yellow Ochre Footed Bowl by Yukio Onaga
This ceramic bowl by artist Yukio Onaga has a round, gently flared form with a small, raised foot. The bowl's surface features a muted, earthy yellow glaze with subtle variations in tone and a few scattered dark speckles. The interior is smooth with a glossy finish that reflects light, revealing slight textural ripples from the handcrafting process. The exterior, with its fine cracks and subtle flaws, mirrors the glaze's earthy hue of natural lines encircling the body. The base is unglazed, showing the raw ceramic material, and bears the artist's signature, inscribed in a flowing, curvilinear style.

About the artist:
The California Japanese Ceramic Arts Guild was formed in 1976 to bring together Southern California ceramic artists of Japanese ancestry by founding members Joanne and Yukio Onaga after their successful exhibit during the 1975 Nisei Week Festival. The heritage of Japanese ceramics and the contemporary techniques of today allow this group to express many levels of creativity. The Guild has remained a visible and viable organization committed to sharing
ceramics' spirit and beauty.
