Unpretentious rustic elegance is what this beautiful stoneware compote is all about. Handcrafted in Italy for Pottery Barn, it was given to me as a gift. In need of a new home, yours perhaps? I’ve used it a few times as a centerpiece accent, so there is no discernible wear other than normal variations found in handcrafted pottery. The compote’s bowl has a whipstitch-inspired rim with hints of red clay undertones on an otherwise smooth creamy white glazed background. It measures 6½” x 10¼” x 5¼” H/W/D; interior 2½” x 9½” H/D; weight 3 lbs. 7 oz.; maker/origin under the base. In its day, the compote was a fancy serving dish seen on every table. In today’s modern spaces, this compote will be a fabulous accent centerpiece accent full of orbs or spheres as part of a tablescape when entertaining or a stylish pedestal fruit bowl on any kitchen island.
