Born in Venice during the early years of the 19th century, this exquisite painted armchair features a slightly slanted pierced back with carved splat, adorned with a parcel-gilt crest. Two open arms with scrolled knuckles are resting on the rectangular seat with new upholstery. The chair is raised on four cabriole legs accented with gilded C-scrolls, and connected to one another through a serpentine H-form cross stretcher. The ensemble is painted in a soft color, highlighted with a discreet parcel-gilt accentuation. With its lovely Rococo lines and light finish, this Italian armchair, circa 1810 will bring a touch of Italian refinement to any home, particularly in a living room or bedroom. See less
