A 2012 studio pottery vase by the American artist Barry Unitas Barnes. The earthenware cylindrical vase has been carved with abstract designs in relief and under-glazed in shades of red, green, blue, yellow, and white. The inside of the vase has been glazed in blue. Near the base of the vessel, the artist chop mark and date are present.
Barry Unitas Barnes received his BFA in Ceramics from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1990 and his MFA in Ceramics from Arizona State University in 1994. Today, he is an Assistant Professor of Art at Franklin College, and teaches Ceramics, 3D Foundations, and Art History. Previously, he has taught art at the University of Indianapolis, Arizona State University, the Indianapolis Art Center, and his own private studio in Beech Grove, Indiana.
