The chairs were made in the same style and manner as chairs of the Ming Dynasty (CE 1368 -1644.) albeit shorter in height. The appearance is plain elegance, back splat, the chair frame is all clean lines, the back rail has a bridge like fform, the stiles are plain, and the seat has a wide mitered frame. The only ornamentations are found on the back splat, the scroll design spandrels on the plain apron and the small spandrels on the foot rest. The mahogany finish and edges are worn and round the seat area. The chairs are sturdy and comfortable for ladies of short stature and young ladies. See less
