The floral-and-foliate … Read more This elegant white marble portico clock with gilt bronze appliques dates to the French Empire period, circa 1830. The floral-and-foliate ormolu-mounted frieze sits above four Doric columns with gilt bronze collars and bases and surround the workings. The 4-1/2″ enamel dial is marked “Sacré à Paris” and displays black, hand-painted Roman numerals and housed in a gilt-bronze acanthus-leaf bezel over an unadorned pendulum. The whole rests on an ormolu-mounted plinth base with gilt-bronze pad feet. It has been cleaned and is in working condition.
