This vintage Weimar German porcelain plate is a stunning addition to any collection. the design was unique . Weimar Porzellan (English: Weimar porcelain) is a German company that has been manufacturing porcelain in Weimar since 1790.
Cobalt was apply in Ming dynasty to produce famous blue and white porcelain, In German, it probably was being produced in Blankenhain as early as 1926,In 1917 Carsten family took over the company and later on introduced the cobalt porcelain due to the good contacts Carstens had with Bohemia . the refinement of the white ceramic material is regarded as a specialist skill at that time.. The precious festive cobalt blue gives the material a unique aura, especially when decorated with delicate ornaments in gold. To collectors the products of this period are often known as "Carstens China. ",Carstens followed the artistic trends of Art Nouveau during 1930-1932, the famous designer Eva Zeisel worked for Carstens. At that time Weimar cobalt china was very well known and appreciated for its style in England, Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, America and the Middle East.
Weimar Porzellan was registered as. the trademark in 1928 when Carstens took over the company during 1917 to 1948.. The trade mark with Made in GDR on back was used during 1949 to 1980.
