Porcelain Famille Rose Pink Green Gold Lotus Shape Bowls from Qing Dynasty - A Pair. Two lotus-shaped small bowls with floral design throughout. Lip of each piece is shaped into lotus leaves that surround the top. Bowls taper and round down into a traditional soft curved base. Small white footing has some wear, but dirt rubs off, as you can see on one of our photos. (After prepping for photography, we noticed that the bases had some dirt. As many reproductions have been applied with a stain on the bottom to make them look authentic, this piece does not have that. The dirt which comes off easily is a sign of authenticity. Top features gold around the edges. Porcelain is a beautiful crisp white, with hand-painted lotus leaves, roses, and Chinese script. Each bowl varies in its design and both are not exactly alike and each has different variations of decor. A testament to the hand made workmanship, as they are not mass-produced. Signed in red at bottom Guangxu period (1875-1908)
This rare pair of bowls would be a great way to add to a collectors collection of Qing dynasty pieces. Beautiful in a cabinet or great on nightstands, in the kitchen or entry as a catch-all, or on a coffee table to hold curiosities.
A note on the markings: Qianlong mark of the period reads Da大, great; Qing 清, Qing (dynasty); Qianlong乾隆,reign (emperor); Nian年, year or period; Zhi制, produced.
