The simplicity and beauty of this petite curved stile and double rung ladderback chair, with a nod to both Sheraton and Duncan Phyfe, will add character and style in any interior, from modern to traditional. Handcrafted from solid oak wood and finished in a mid-tone walnut stain allowing the natural wood grain pattern to show through. The slight outward curved rear saber-style legs juxtapose nicely with the cup and ring turned front legs and bobbin turned front stretcher. Beneath the horseshoe-shaped cane seat, you’ll find double-H cross stretchers on the sides and one H-cross stretcher on the backside, for stability and structural integrity. We believe this cutie was made sometime in the 1920s but it could be a bit older. It measures 31” x 17” x 16½” H/W/D; seat 17” x 16½” W/D; seat-to-floor height 17¼”; weight approximately 10 lbs. Crafted from solid oak wood using mortise and tenon joinery; natural cane seat in a naturally aged honeyed tan hue. In excellent condition with age appropriate “bumps and bruises” of life type of wear. Cane seat is in great shape; a minuscule break in only one strand toward the back of the seat which is highly indiscernible and does not affect the seat’s integrity or beauty (see photo 8 toward the center back). There is no makers mark to be found. With its petite profile, this cutie can easily be placed into service in any room, from guest bedroom to child’s room or closet.
