The design in the cloisonné … Read more Pair of Ming Dynasty cloisonné censers with copper bodies and gilt copper rims and feet. The design in the cloisonné depicts the traditional Chinese motif of lotus flowers with leaves and scrolling tendrils. The soft turquoise field and the interpretation of the lotus forms are typical of Ming Dynasty cloisonné, as opposed to the brighter colors and less refined lotus blossoms of the Qing Dynasty.

These censers are in good original condition with some repaired damages and the usual pitting in and minor losses to the cloisonné. One gilded copper foot has been replaced and is bent and showing oxidation. One top rim has been bent with losses to the enameling on either side. In addition to these repairs, there is general wear consistent with age and use.
