- Any chair this old would have had some restoration over the years. For example, it was reupholstered some time back. … moreAny chair this old would have had some restoration over the years. For example, it was reupholstered some time back. The upholstery is good and strong but will have a few age spots, soiled areas from hands running across the fabric, and we found 2 small holes in the cushion on the underside. But it is clean and usable as is, but I would want to reupholster it. The jappaned scenes have probably been touched up. All this is normal commensurate with age and use. Measurements might be off by an inch in any direction, so please take that into account if height or width is critical. less
