This stately American Federal period eight day mahogany tall case clock features a double scroll split pediment cresting with a single center urn finial. Four additional finials define the corners. An arch painted face with day chapter, phases of the moon and seconds dial are flanked by freestanding columnettes. The “tombstone” shaped waist door is a carry over from the earlier case forms. The quality of the case and patina are remarkable with chamfered corners and bookmatched crotch veneers. The base is raised on Ogee bracket feet, the perfect combination of strength and elegance.
