Like the ruyi, the design is centered in three places, the ends and the middle. Through the use of modern tools, the carver could make dramatic cutouts that enhance the delicacy of the design through the thin tendrils of the leaves and still it is solidly grounded in the base which resembles a branch of a snobby pine tree. The flowers on each of the three segments appear to be lotus flowers but the leaves do not quite match up. Never the less, the wood carver managed to create a three dimensional effect that is beautiful and dramatic.

The dimensions are 16 inches long, 3.5 inches deep and 3 inches high. See less
