What made you passionate about interior design? How’d you get your start?
After childhoods spent re-arranging our bedrooms and day dreaming of things and places beyond what we had ever experienced, we both set out to pursue interior design in college, which is where we met. We were fast friends with ideologies that beautifully aligned. We both believe that the most beautiful spaces are a little bit imperfect, honest materials are of top priority, and the client should stand front and center. At a very young age, we decided over a pitcher of sangria that building a company and creating a design world that was solely our own was our shared dream.
What do you find most compelling about Chairish?
The most compelling thing about Chairish is the expansive offerings from all over the world. We can shop in Paris or Florence without having to physically be there. Don’t get us wrong, a dreamy sourcing trip would be welcomed, but it’s amazing to have the opportunity to show clients pieces sourced from all over the world. It helps us breathe life into projects, we never want our spaces to feel catalogue and stale —what could be worse!
How does sustainability factor into your design choices and love of vintage?
Sourcing vintage items is very important to us, not only for a collected and curated look. It also helps us sleep at night knowing that we are doing what we can to not add to the ‘fast fashion’ side of interior design and decorating. It’s something we try to incorporate into all of our projects. Less mass production and more handcrafted pieces from decades past, with a story to be told.
Favorite way to create a statement-making moment in a room?
There are so many ways to make an impact! But if we have to choose a favorite, it’s finding incredible vintage lighting. Something that has a patina, is handcrafted or has hand-blown glass. Something that no one else has or could ever get because it’s the only of its kind.

Do you have any go-to color palettes and color combos?
We don’t really have go-to color palettes, as every client and project is just so different, but we like to walk the line between earthy neutrals and unexpected color. We have a huge focus on texture and details. More is more in our practice.

What advice do you have for first-time clients to make their space truly personal?
We always tell our clients to be open to unique (and sometimes odd) objects, artwork, and upholstery. Artwork should be a bit weird, it needs to resonate with you, but certainly doesn’t have to tell a story about your hobbies. Be accepting of heirloom furnishings from family members, there is real value in sentimental pieces in our work.
