To start the New Year off right, we’re partnering with Ivy, (the new business management tool built for interior designers), and asking six designers to share their best tips for giving your interiors a post-holiday zhush (without spending a bundle). From snappy, one-step tricks that will add major drama, to a list of swear-by paint colors to wake up those walls, these are the tips guaranteed to get your space in gear for the New Year.

What do you love about shopping on Chairish?
One of my favorite things to source on Chairish is art. I try to use original art as much as possible in my projects, and vintage art can be more affordable, especially for young collectors! I am also SUPER excited about Chairish’s new Artist Collective, and the fact that some of my favorite artists—like Trixie Pitts, Anne Darby Parker, Kayce Hughes, and Stephanie Henderson—are now featuring their works on Chairish!

What tips do you have for freshening up a space for the New Year?
When I feel like I need a refresh, I bring out my paint cans and touch up scuff marks on the walls and trim, which makes a room feel like it’s been newly painted!

Favorite thing about designing with vintage pieces?
I’ve always been enamored by old things—I love imagining the people who used and cherished  items prior to me—and using a few, well-chosen vintage items can bring such a sense of soul to a home, even a brand new one.

What’s your favorite color combo?
I’ll forever love blue and green, but lately, I’ve been really into purple and mushroom, probably because winter makes me crave something deep and cozy, and this combo is the color equivalent of mohair and tweed!

What do you love about shopping on Chairish?
Chairsh is a one-stop shop for unique vintage pieces. And the “See it in Your Space” app is AMAZING—It literally takes the guess work out of shopping!

What tips do you have for freshening up a space for the New Year!
Play around with your accessories! I always tell my clients to shop their house. Switching up your coffee tabletop styling or your artwork can give a room a whole new look.

Favorite way to add drama to a room?
Bold color and playful pattern! Velvet upholstery is a fun way to add a major wow factor. Bonus points if you add a bullion trim!

What’s your favorite paint color?
Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace—It’s the perfect white!

What do you love about shopping on Chairish?
Chairish’s filters make it easy to search for specific pieces, including colors and sizes—which is a real time saver. I also love the “View it in Your Space” app—it allows you to place a product into an uploaded photo of your room, which helps clients visualize how the item will look in their space!

What tips do you have for freshening up a space for the New Year?
An easy way to give my room new life is to add new pillows or a throw. But don’t overlook lighting, art or accessories, either! Add some shine with a pair of vintage brass table lamps, or consider a vintage art print.

Favorite thing about designing with vintage pieces?
I love using old pieces because of the finishes that they deliver. No new table, no matter how expensive, is going to provide the same glow as a 60-year-old un-lacquered brass coffee table.

What’s your favorite color combo?
Blue and green with splash of pink, coral, or red for good measure!

What do you love about shopping on Chairish?
Shopping on Charish brings the vintage store shopping experience to my office! It allows me to tap into a broader range of vintage finds than I could just using my local vendors.

What tips do you have for freshening up a space for the New Year?
Start your refresh by imagining you’ve just moved into your house. Pull all of your accessories off your shelves and onto a table. Pick one item (or purchase one new item!) and build an entirely new look around it using existing or newly purchased accents.

What’s your favorite paint color?
My “keep-it-safe” go-to is Benjamin Moore’s, Gray Owl. For a client who’s willing to take a risk, though, my favorite is French Beret.
