Some people collect objects. I investigate them.
With thirty years of professional experience as a forensic investigator, examining evidence, establishing provenance, and separating what is real from what merely appears to be, I bring an unusual set of skills to the art and antiques market. Every piece I offer has been evaluated not just for aesthetics, but for authenticity: the paper, the hand, the subject, the story.
My focus is mid-century and antique works on paper and canvas, particularly European paintings, architectural watercolors, and objects that carry a documented place and time. I'm drawn to pieces with traceable origins: a location inscribed in the artist's own hand, a subject that can be identified and verified, a physical object whose age and condition tell a consistent story. I do this for the experience of using all of my investigative skills to nail down the provenance of interesting historical items. I love the stories and weight of small things.
I'm a Certified Fraud Examiner, a published author, and a lifelong student of the things people leave behind. When I describe a piece's condition, provenance, or attribution, I mean it the way an investigator would, not as marketing language but as a finding.
If you have questions about a piece, ask them. I'll tell you what I know, and I'll tell you what I don't.
