Alessandro Di Tosto is an Italian native, born and educated in Rome. From an early age he had a passion for home furnishings and design and was always attracted to antiques. He began his career working for Italian furniture companies and developed his interest in interior design. He opened his first store in Rome before coming to NY. More than a decade ago Alessandro moved to East Hampton, New York. He immediately recognized a market on the East End for mid-century furnishings and decided to open his own shop, Le Lampade, in the Village of Sag Harbor. Initially Alessandro focused on lighting, sourced directly from Italy, and soon expanded his inventory to include furniture and decorative objects.
Le Lampade was his stage. As curator Alessandro set out to create an eclectic showcase for Italian mid-century lighting and furnishings. Guided by a discerning eye and a dependable intuition, Alessandro assembled a note-worthy collection of quality merchandise and iconic classic design pieces. The store soon attracted the attention of interior designers in the national and international marketplace as a source of the great vintage brands of the era. A few years ago he began designing and hand crafting lighting fixtures inspired by the work of the modern movement, bringing the same passion, attention to detail, and quality in his own contemporary designs as he has to Le Lampade.
