Demeters Wake Antiques

In the summer of 1890, the schooner Demeter drifted into port—a ghost ship carrying a cargo of shadows and secrets. While history knows it as the vessel from Bram Stoker’s Dracula, we see it as the ultimate collector: a ship that pulled the best treasures from across the globe to carry them through the salt and foam.

Born from a love for Irish Gothic and the mysteries of the high seas, Demeter’s Wake sources the "lost cargo" of the great trade routes. We look for the kind of things you’d find in a captain’s quarters or salvaged from a storied shipwreck—authentic maritime relics, fine porcelain, and objects that feel like they have a soul of their own. Our collection lives in that space between the historic and the haunting, designed for homes that favor a transitional, timeless aesthetic.

Based in Oyster Bay, Long Island, Demeter’s Wake is a bridge between the old world and your home. Whether it’s a hand-painted armorial plate from a Parisian atelier or a piece of weathered maritime folk art, every item we find is chosen for its ability to tell a story.
