I paint in a naive, whimsical and very colorful style. I am a self-taught artist, very inspired by the old impressionists and expressionists and many modern-day painters who work in the same style. I work in acrylic, oils, oil pastel, chalk, pen and ink and sometimes use a mixture of odd and unexpected materials. I love to draw upon the subconscious memories of my childhood, which was a very happy, carefree time for me as we lived by the ocean and then in the mountains. I am very inspired by nature, children, fairy tales, interior design, architecture, music, film and objects that are old and express a language of history and stories. I also write poetry and children's books and am a published author of three books that my husband Mike and I wrote together: "Fairy House", "Fairy Village" and "F is for Fairy", about the nature art that we have been creating since 1987. We have a shop in Provo, Utah and sell beautiful antiques, vintage and art. We love finding lovely old treasures that fill our lives with beauty and amazing stories and find that these unique objects inspire us in our art as well.
