Its abundant “personality” makes it difficult to choose a particular side for display. Really, it astonishes from any angle. It’s a “tour de force” of Nature.

It seems likely that it’s made of maple and that it’s “vintage.” It’s marked by the artist on the bottom, near one edge. An R is the last letter, and probably an A is the first, both within a rectangular box burned into the wood.

At the considerable size of (about) 14 ½ inches wide, 11 ½ deep, and 5 ½ high, it commands a presence. One’s eye is drawn to both the rich, warm colors and, of course, the extraordinary shapes.

There’s a small disturbance to the wood inside the bowl, right off the center, and another small, similar one on the bottom. There are two hairline cracks, one each on the longer dimensions. These are very superficial and don’t impact the center of the bowl in any way; there's no evidence they're the result of damage. Overall the condition is superb.
