This large pair of Italian square plates are both marked on the back, and the hand painting on the front … Read more This large pair of Italian square plates are both marked on the back, and the hand painting on the front of each plate depicts perhaps a family’s coat of arms. You can see they are hand painted by the slight variations in image depictions. The colors are gold, yellows, blues, and rusts on a pure white ground. Both plates have hangers on their backs for wall display. These were made in the 20th century using the same techniques since the Renaissance period (Circa 1500).
