Antique wooden roof top dog carrier or crate by Absalom Backus Jr & Sons, circa early 1900's
Label reads - "Valuable Dog Please Feed and Water"
Interior has original water bowl, original metal reinforcements, latches, carrying handles and casters, original owners label.
Absalom Backus, Jr. (1824-1901) and his sons were manufacturers of dog crates and woven boxes in Detroit. These carriers or crates were common for ship or train travel.
