These Types … Read more This Really is an Exceptionally Nice Looking Antique American Primitive Stoneware Jug. Circa Mid to Late 19th Century. These Types of Jugs were Typically Used for Liquids - Spring Water - Ciders - Hard Cider and Other Spirits. The Front is Beautifully Hand Decorated with a Large Cobalt Blue Stylized Floral Design on a Uniform Sand Color Salt Glaze Exterior. It is Embossed with the Number 2 Denoting its Two Gallon Liquid Storage Capacity. It is Also Embossed - Signed by the Well Documented Utica New York Maker "WHITES UTICA N.Y.". Note!!! that The “WHITE UTICA” OR “WHITES UTICA” Marks were Only Used from The 1850′s to the 1870′s so This Jug Would have Been Made in That Time Frame. It is in Exceptionally Nice All Original Condition - Displays Beautifully. It has No Cracks - No Repairs - No Chips - No Obvious Surface Kiln Glaze Imperfections. These Types of Early American Stoneware Items were Fired in Very Large Kilns Along with Many Other Pieces at the same Time. Truly a Classic Piece of Early Americana.
