This exquisite Italian Art Deco sculpture features a pair of leaping gazelles expertly carved from smooth, white alabaster. Measuring 18" x 11 1/2" x 4 1/2", this piece showcases the elegance and sophistication characteristic of the Art Deco movement.
The sculpture's surface has a silky, satin-like finish, which highlights the careful craftsmanship of the artisan. The restrained yet confident sculpting style emphasizes the beauty of the leaping gazelles and captures their graceful movement.
Although there is an old repair to the left horn of the lead gazelle, the sculpture remains in excellent overall condition, with only normal wear and tear commensurate with age and use. The darkened adhesive used in the repair is visible but does not detract from the piece's overall aesthetic.
Dating from the 1930s, this sculpture is a classic example of High Art Deco, characterized by its sleek, streamlined forms and emphasis on luxury and glamour. With its timeless beauty and expert craftsmanship, this Italian Art Deco White Alabaster Leaping Gazelles sculpture is sure to be a stunning addition to any collection of fine art.
