Amazing hand made American Folk Art inlaid cabinet. The Roman classical music motif is presented in various crafts styles from inlaid marquetry and parquetry to cut out scroll work.
Toga clad woman dance and play musical instruments on the doors and sides. Inlaid snow flakes and intricate vines decorate the drawers and frame the women. The geometric and fluid scrollwork accent the edges. The case of the cabinet as well as the drawers use dove tailed construction. The drop pull handles and the wheels are of the Eastlake Victorian era from the 1870s or 1880s. This was a time of fascination with the Greek and Roman antiquities fueled by the archeological finds at Pompeii.
