Everything is original including … Read more Vintage Home is pleased to present this stunning Charles Hollis Jones Dining Set from the 1970s. Everything is original including the white patent leather upholstery. Jones is an American furniture designer who was born in Indiana. His family moved to Los Angles, CA when he was 16 and it defined his style and career. He started working with Acrylic and Lucite for furniture in the early 1970s when no one was using these materials. He started CHJ Design Co and still lives in Burbank. Jones was born in 1945, so he is in his late 70s. His designs were an immediate success and he was commissioned by Hollywood stars such as Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball and Johnny Carson to design pieces for their homes. This dining set is an excellent example of his mastery. Hill Manufacturing Co out of Garnerville, NY did almost all of his early Lucite pieces. Two chairs still have the Hill tags. The chairs are iconic with bent 2.75” lucite bars and the flat panel support at the back is 0.75” thick lucite. The base uses both the bars and flat panels. The seats are white patent leather. The simplicity of clean transparent lines and white are stunning, contemporary, modern and yet iconic Mid-Century. The set brings together all of the best of CHJ in both quality and thickness of the lucite and his amazing design style.
