This Really is a Great Looking Antique American Primitive Stoneware Jug. Circa Late 19th Century. These were typically used for Liquids - Spring Water - Ciders - Hard Cider and Other Spirits. It has an Exceptionally Beautiful - Large Cobalt Blue Hand Decorated Stylized Floral Design on the Front on a Wonderful Aged Salt Glaze Exterior. It is Embossed with the Number 2 Denoting its 2 Gallon Liquid Storage Capacity. It is Embossed - Signed by the Documented Maker J. S. TAFT & COMPANY of KEENE NEW HAMPSHIRE. It is in Very Good All Original Condition - Displays Beautifully. It has a Few Chips at the Spout Area From Use Over the Years but This is Quite Common with This Type of Utilitarian Stoneware Jug. It also has a Couple Minor Kiln Glaze Imperfections - Spots Etc. Around the Base - Outer Perimeter but these are Normal and would have Occurred in the Making. No Repairs. F.Y.I - These Types of Early American Stoneware Items were Fired in Very Large Kilns Along with Many Other Pieces at the same Time.
It Measures 14 3/4 inches Tall x 8.75 inches Wide - Long.
